Dear TRAI,
As an engineer and a patriot, I find this type of OTT framework against our right as a citizen.
Let me explain what I understand about net neutrality:
Imagine a scenario where, there's a ice cream parlour that gives out free milkshakes to everyone. It's free, no charges at all. Now say there's a salesman selling straws to the customer.
The customer is happy because this has made it convenient. But soon the customer finds out that the salesman has started stubbornly pinching the straw, and now he demands money from the ice cream parlour or the customer for his services.
In this scenario, the ice cream parlour is the internet. The salesman is the internet service provider.
I think this OTT is a step backward. If we want to grow we should not implement this law. This type of law will definitely kill small startups in the long run. Our Make in India dream will remain just a dream.
We should look at how Netherlands have implemented the law.
The Internet and the bandwidth came free to us from nature. It came from minds of the scientists who gave away the technology for free. It is us who have devised a way to monetize it. I agree that it is necessary for growth, but this framework and laws against net neutrality will hinder our progress in the long term prospects of our country.
Kindly take a note of my sincere and from the heart request.
Thank you reading the email.
Best luck and regards,
Sushant Kadam
