Sir,

Net Neutrality is a sensitive issue and imperative in maintaining freedom of expression as well as level playing field for promoting competition. Even US government had to give in to reasons inspite of strong lobbying from companies like Warner Cable, Verizon and Comcast.

While other countries are broadening their definition of broadband and recognizing Internet as basic need, efforts by Indian carriers to breach the principle of Net Neutrality are regressive to say the least. Time has come for these companies to reorient themselves to meet the changing needs of time instead of becoming a hindrance in the process of change. Change in this direction is inevitable and desired. Setting a negative precedent will only hurt the country.

I sincerely request you, on behalf of all Indians, to not let these companies get their way. We need to look at it from a long term perspective.  Importance of Net Neutrality can not be overstated or overstressed. Laws of Netherlands has set a gold standard in this regard. I hope and urge you to take the right decision and become part of a positive and forward looking precedent.
