Dear TRAI,
Recently, I have come to know that TRAI is planning to regulate messaging and calling services in a way that is favourable only to telecom companies and their unjustifiable demands. I would like to give my inputs and feedback on the same, just to remind you what a dangerous and foolish move that is, during these times in which Net Neutrality is being upheld in various parts of the world. Net neutrality has proven itself to be a worthy law with widespread internet access in different foreign countries to justify it.
In USA, recently there was a move to destroy net neutrality by telecom companies which allow them to decide which all services should be given "priority" and hence take the freedom from the hands of people. Even though the FCC chairman was initially in support of this movement, numerous protests and proper justifications made even him understand the issues of giving such power to telecom companies and FCC finally overruled the motion. Apart from USA, different countries of European Union are making laws to strengthen Net Neutrality. To be specific, Netherlands is one of the pioneers in this field by passing a net neutrality law which prevented providers from tapping or slowing down services or applications.
The telecom companies, if given this power, would be able to prevent competition and innovation in the sector, which disrupts the balance of economy, trade, and freedom. Such a power, residing in such a few hands is big blow to individual freedom of every Indian citizen and I humbly request you to understand the consequences and take necessary steps against such movements.
You, being given the power to regulate the telecom sector of our nation, holds a big responsibility towards the people of India, and has the moral duty to make right decisions that will move only towards the prosperity. progress and innovation in India. Providing such a demolishing power to telecom companies are against each one of the above mentioned. So please, don't let these giants sabotage the sector and pass a net neutrality law which allows us, the common mob, to access Internet without the hinderences from them.
