Dear Sir/Madam,
I write this email to express my concerns over the recent events that seem to be conspiring over the issue of net neutrality. Let me begin by saying just how disappointed I am that such an issue is being raised in my country and I pray to god and sincerely hope that the people I voted for don't make possibly the biggest mistake of our generation.
The web industry is booming in India with Indian start-ups like flipkart leading the way. If net neutrality is not protected then foreign investors and big companies will be able to force newer start-ups out of work. I am an aspiring entrepreneur myself working on an electronic medical record management service related website for the past 2 years. If net neutrality is hampered then not only will I stand absolutely no chance of competing against big companies, I would have also wasted the last 2 years of my life working hard on something just to realise that my own fellow countrymen have zero interested in seeing me succeed. This matter is not of a few people not being able to pass time on Facebook, it is a serious matter that can stifle the efforts and dreams of many youngsters who hope to one day become independent earners and revenue generators.
Lastly I plead to you as a consumer. If the telecom industry start making revenue from businesses then soon the consumer will become an after thought. Our needs and requirements will be superseded by the needs, requirements and possibly whims and fancies of companies. We, as paying consumers, demand that we are valued for our patronage to a service provider. Try to understand the gravity of this situation, if business become consumers themselves, then how will the rights of smaller consumers (the people) stand against the larger consumers (businesses).
While this matter has disappointed me greatly, I still have faith in our leaders and I am confident you will make the right decision that is in everyone's best interest.
Thank You,
Tushar Kant
