I'm more hearing recently about the licensing on OTTs. It really made people like me to fear about the freedom to use internet/technology. As the internet price gets cheaper, more and more people started using internet. When OTT players like Whatsapp, Facebook, etc came into existence, more and more people started texting with each other. Frankly speaking, with these OTTs many people re-established many old relationships which were broken due to various reasons like work, migration, etc.
OTTs doesn't affect the telcos revenue. If OTTs are not there or they are restricted through license, then more and more blackout days kind of concept will be implemented which will impacs the common people like us.
It is not like all the consumers are freely using telcos resources for using OTTs services, instead we all pay a huge amount for the internet packs and also most people use OTTs through their home broadband connections. Once OTTs come into existence, we are paying more for internet packs which is very good revenue for the telcos.
Hence please don't support telcos in restricting the OTTs, instead please support net neutrality.
