Dear TRAI,
Being an internet user for almost a decade now, I can say that I am extremely unhappy with the new recommendation to charge for OTT services. After reading the PDF advertisement dated 27th March, 2015 (http://trai.gov.in/WriteReadData/WhatsNew/Documents/OTT-CP-27032015.pdf), I found that very childish and imbalanced arguments are placed to support regulation for OTT service.
Stating that OTT services use TSPs resources but not vice-versa is an immature argument. OTT services are available to customers and we the customers are paying for the resources used by OTT services to the TSPs. OTPs are already making consumers to user more and more internet service on a daily basis which in turn results in more profit for TSPs. I can hardly think of using an internet pack if there are no OTP services. Apart from that it is strongly against the free nature of internet and the foundation of world wide web in 1989.
A lot has been said and done in other countries regarding net neutrality and it is more advised that our bureaucrats do an extensive research before falling into these kind of trap laid by already profitable TSPs.
It is a good initiative by TRAI to ask for our opinions on this matter but this is not properly advertised. Please advertise it widely as it affects a lot of consumers in our country.
Regards,
Rahul
