Whoever may get this,
As a citizen i would like to voice my concern over TRAI's attitude in the net neutrality issue.
To me internet is just like a market place, where everyone wants to sell their services. Now in this marketplace, there is an extravagant mall. This mall attracts a lot of customers and is the hub of all economic activity. Now, some small shops start opening around the mall. They are perfectly legal, just that they are using the popularity of the mall to sell their services.
But looking at some customers getting away, the shop owners in the malls deploy guards outside the small shops, and everytime they would sell anything, these guards would demand a toll from the buyers, thus chasing them away. Is this legal? More importantly, is this right?
The consortium of telecom companies can be considered the mall and the small shop owners can be substituted for services like email, messaging etc.
Net neutrality will only fill the pockets of these companies' owners, and not help in the general development of society. Right now its the messaging services, tomorrow they will charge for Wikipedia, Khan Academy. As a engineer, i can see infinite possibilities in this virtual world, and its amazing applications in the real world.
I strongly object to this situation. The internet should remain equal. The internet should remain neutral.
