Allowing telecom companies to implement differential charging is like reversing the gains on what we have achieved in India in the past few years. This regressive proposal by telecom companies will throttle the users limiting there choices and weighing heavily on their wallet. Over the years TRAI has facilitated the growth of telecom companies and value added services they provide. TRAI has always helped in creating a fair level level playing field for all the concerned under its regulations. Now allowing discrimination against a section because they cut into telecom companies revenues is against the public interest and might create an impression that the regulatory body is taking corporates side against public interest. The cyber space is more accessible to common man in India and is highly active because of the positive regulations by the government over the years. Please do not encourage any attempts by vested interest to hamper the positive tide thriving in India. Sowing such seed will grow into a monster and will one day grow out of anyone's control. It is TRAI's Responsibility' to ensure that the internet remains neutral. A few companies can not decide what should be accessible and what not. They should not the decide on what people use. How would all of us feel if different electricity charges are levied on electronic products for same amount of consumption. The rulling on net neutrality ft FCC and a dedicated legislation for it in Netherland gives us an idea on how other governments are looking at this issue. We cannot allow such things to creep in and take backward steps while the world moves forward. Please do not encourage Telecom companies for differential charging.
