Net Neutrality is a serious issue to pass laws about without consulting your own citizens. You know what's going to happen if there's no Net Neutrality?
You will have different packages for accessing internet like:
1GB data for Rs 252 + Rs 50 for Google + Rs 25 for facebook and so on.
1 gb data pack would be like the base pack of your DTH.
But you will have to add packs for carrier decided pricing to be able to use all apps.
Isn’t this SCARY? Its just the start!
ISPs can slow down some sites on the internet while giving faster speeds to those companies that will pay them up more.
What will happen?
Say its a “big sale day” of amazon and flipkart and you are a BSNL customer.
Now BSNL can strike a deal with Flipkart for greater speeds on their network.Due to this you wouldnt be able to make a purchase on amazon for an item that may be cheaper because the sppeds would be so slow that you will not even maybe able to log in.
Governments will no more need draconian laws to curb on free speech. It can just ask the operators to make sites that are critical of its policies much more costly and also clamp down on speeds in such a way that it doesnt load properly.Telcos that already have vested interests from the govts.will happily oblige.
Neither of the above, and a whole lot of other problems are acceptable to me or any other internet using citizen for that matter.
Hope you'll consider this.
