I am sending you this email as a citizen of India that is working hard in order to spread the use of internet and be aligned with the rapid changes in the technology that are happening globally. Internet as we know is a medium through which many changes are happening in this country. It is time to leave the old technology behind and adopt the new ones and be at the global technology forefront.
In my opinion, imposing restrictions and increasing the costs will simply hamper the huge technological changes that are just starting to happen in this country. I believe that no citizen on India wants to be a citizen of a technologically backward nation. We are already lagging behind when it comes to the speed of internet, and now if the Government imposes net neutrality laws, it will simply take us several years back in the path of progress.
The nation will progress much faster if we keep the internet access open. Even if new laws are imposed that allow telecom operators to charge specific services from specific websites, there are just too many ways one can bypass them.
Keeping the internet open will allow many new businesses to open and that will in turn bring more income to the Government. Foreign investors are constantly looking forth for investing in a developing India and imposing net neutrality laws will, as I said earlier, hamper the development.
Hence, I request you to not pass such laws that will take this beautiful country back into the dark ages. Instead I request you to work on improving the internet services in India that will most definitely bring much larger share of income for the Government and also accelerate growth in this country.
