Dear sir/ma'am,
Regulating over the top services like WhatsApp, Viber and Skype means
that the internet, which was devised as a medium of free and open
communication, no longer sticks to its founding principles. With Modi
government pushing for Made in India and bringing Indian economy at par
with the global economy, a regulatory framework for OTT services would
discourage many entrants who rely on the power of internet to expand
their reach. Corporate giants want this. They want to stifle and kill
off all competition because they have the means to pay telecom companies
for a 'faster connection' to their services.
If the government is to encourage and promote entrepreneurship and
expansion of the domestic economy, no one should be allowed to regulate
services that run on the Internet.
A concerned citizen and entrepreneur,
Ishbir Singh
