Hello Sir/Ma’am,

I am writing to express my views on the debate about net neutrality. I believe that it is crucial that net neutrality be upheld in our country. The importance of the internet in the growth and development of the entire humanity cannot be overstated. Therefore it is the responsibility of all governments to ensure that access to internet is made cheaper and easier for all the people.

Easy access to internet is especially important in a developing country like ours where not all people have access to high quality education. It connects people together and breaks the barrier of distance. Internet should be given the status of a fundamental right of all people.

The Internet is arguably the greatest technology of our time and cannot be allowed to be in control of corporations. Telecoms should not be allowed to regulate prices of packets, all traffic over the internet should be treated the same. Giving telecoms the power to charge different rates for different traffic will hand them incredible power over what the common man does or doesn’t do on the internet. This will be detrimental to this country’s growth and must be prevented at all costs.

There have been several agitations all over the world regarding this issue of net neutrality. It is a matter of utmost importance. The internet must be open and free for all. Net neutrality promotes competition among ISPs, helps spreading of ideas, protected freedom of speech and encourages innovation. Without net neutrality, telecoms and ISPs would have tight control over what websites are accessed, thus severely hindering growth.

I request you to listen to the pleas of the many citizens who have voiced their concern and ensure that net neutrality is upheld.

Thank you
A concerned citizen
