I being a citizen of India thinks that net should always be neutral. Charging extra and separately for diiferent services that run through internet is absolutely wrong. What if the electricity agency starts charging separately and extra for the different appliances? It will be wrong. A user is paying for electricity, its his/her wish how to use it.
If I pay for the internet, it is my wish how to use it.
The 21st century saw a major breakthrough in information and technology- internet- sharing knowledge, data seamlessly over the globe. Many services came up that run by internet. Charging extra for the different services is absolutely wrong. Internet can do wondrous things today.
The number of internet users are increasing day by day as the no. of mobile phone users are increasing. Telecom companies are actually not going into loss but seeing the vast amount of users using whatsapp, skype and other services makes them think that they can gain more profits. the catch is that the no. of users of these services are so high only because these services are free once one has paid for the internet. If they impose charges for different apps and services , the no. of users will definitely come down . Many people in india not even having enough money but still have an access to whatsapp. Once telecom operators charge extra for simple web based services, the usage rates will come down drastically.
I think that this all is happening just because the telecom operators want more money. I strongly support net neutrality and object to any extra charges for web based services.
