Sir/Madam,
This is Ivan, one of the 1.2 billion of the great nation called
India. With utter disdain, I have to express my gravest grief over
the fact that, a country which seems to have been striding on the
development path is being pulled back. At a time, when people of
developed and developing nations are enjoying seamless internet, TRAI
is hearing the TELECOM INDUSTRY. All my countrymen would be
unequivocal with me for telling there is hardly anyone who can go
about for a day without internet. Almost every social, educational,
financial services are done over internet. Obviously, we pay for that.
But, it would unfair to an ordinary Indian to charge him for the so
called OVER THE TOP SERVICES. Why should one pay extra for enjoying
some music, if s/he has already paid for it. Does recreational
facilities are not covered under that net pack.
Coming to the PRIVACY issues. They would be many to say the least.
How can one Telecom company know which sites I visit without
interfering with my privacy. That has to be a serious issue. Breach of
privacy. How do they get that permission? No one likes to see their
privacy being tinkered with.
If only you are going to support them, because they are telling they
will be losing revenue(which is marginal loss), you also have to
listen to those 1.2 billion Indians, whose rights and privacy are
being compromised. Prioritise things. You have your answer with you.
Seriously hoping my letter doesn't land into stonewall.

With thanks,
Ivan
