Subject: A foreign perspective on 'net neutrality

Ladies and Gentlemen:

I urge the TRAI to disallow differential pricing of services on the internet.
My email is hosted in India with an independent firm there. I encourage people to do business in India and have visited on two occasions to speak to your universities. If ’net neutrality becomes history there, then I believe innovation will be harmed, and I will have less incentive to champion India as a good place to do internet-related business.
When you think about innovations, including some of the websites we use today regularly, many were started by the little guy, and I’d like to see more of what independent minds come up with.  Keeping the internet neutral in the India for all players is a good thing for your economy.
If it’s merely a place for the big players, then I can deal with those people here. Please keep the Indian internet free from the unfair influences of the likes of Vodafone and Airtel, so that everyday entrepreneurs can benefit and continue building your economy, not foreign traders trying to line their pockets. If India grows, the rest of us who trade with you do benefit. But if only a few multinationals grow, then all this does is ensure that they take the money out of your economy.

I remain,

Yours faithfully,

Jack Yan
