Dear Sir/Madam,
An open internet is a basic right today as water or electricity. Water is not distributed to ordinary citizens under the pretext of whether they would using it for washing clothes or watering the garden. Energy providers don't charge consumers extra for using a microwave or having a TV, they charge them for the amount of energy you consume.
Net Neutrality will keep internet the same way. People will continue to be charged for the bandwidth they consume. Without Net Neutrality, internet providers can charge the people separately for using WhatsApp, Facebook, Youtube, Wikipedia etc - which really puts the people at the mercy of the service providers while accessing quality content.
The internet is an open world, one of the few unbiased sources of information. An ISP controlling who gets to access which data blocks the consumer's right to be informed. We, the consumers are afraid that this will give too much power to the middlemen (ISPs) and strongly favour the preservation of Net neutrality.
Please do the needful to ensure net neutrality is not lost.
Regards,
Rajagopal Hariharan
