Dear Madam/Sir,
In light of the current media articles around TRAI seeking to regulate OTT players in the Indian telecom market, I would like to express my extreme displeasure and opinion towards the issue.
Firstly, as this is an ongoing debate internationally and as per the recent FCC hearing, we have much to learn in terms of the litigation we are to pass and shouldn't be taking hasty decisions.
Secondly, this ruling, if at all, will go against the fundamental right of fair usage policies of the internet laid down internationally by organizations such as Google. The telecom companies should not have the right to put their vested interests above someone's right to digital freedom and information.
Thirdly, the losses assumed to be encumbered to the tune of 400 Million will be offset by the 2.4 Billion in profit which will be earned by the organizations if the policy is enforced.
Fourthly, we should learn from a similar situation in Netherlands and how they tackled the problem. It is an exemplary verdict that should be upheld if the Indian authorities mean to uphold their sanctity.
Lastly, I have been an avid supporter of the current government but something of this nature will truly shake mine, and i'm sure most of the youth's confidence in the government. It will be an unwise political decision if ever made.
I would advise you to not make this mistake or else the government loses its image in the youth, which will be the largest work force in the world for another 25 years.
Hope this helps you in deciding what is right.
