To whom it may concern,
My name is Sesha Phani and I am a citizen of India. I have come to know
that TRAI is taking opinions regarding proposed reforms to telecom
policy to allow cellular operators to differentially charge websites
(through entering contracts with such websites) or to charge customers
based on the kind of services (like internet messaging, chatting, VoIP
etc) that they use through standard internet packs. I am mailing you to
give my opinion.
I stand firmly against this sort of practices. I strongly believe that
its not the cellular operator's business to worry about the kind of
services I use or the websites I visit using the internet package I
purchase from them. I must have the freedom to visit any website that I
like with the same speed irrespective of whether the website entered
into a contract with my cellular operator or not.
I request you to discourage this sort of practices and attempts from
cellular operators in India, being their regulator.
If this isnt the appropriate channel that TRAI is taking consultations
regarding the above matter, I request you to redirect me to the
appropriate channel.
Thanking you,
Yours sincerely,
Sesha Phani.
