Dear TRAI,

I am a 20 year old engineering student from Mumbai writing to you to beg you to please take a stand against telecommunication companies who are against the concept of Net Neutrality. One of these telcos is Airtel with their recent scheme to charge for WhatsApp & Skype application usage.

These are being termed Over The Top services by these telcos, which is extremely wrong. We as customers are entitled to choose what we decide to do with the data pack WE PAY FOR. Telcos must NOT be allowed to dictate what content I access when I have already paid for the service.

Net Neutrality is also an issue in the United States of America, where the telecom sector is already a huge mess. Please, please, please take strict action against telcos who are against Net Neutrality. Please do not let our country digress. Instead, let it progress by allowing an Internet where users can decide what content to access, not the telcos. Our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has a vision for Digital India and Net Neutrality is a HUGE step towards this very vision.

To sum it up, I entirely trust TRAI to take a decision pro-Net Neutrality thereby affirming the youngsters of this country that we live in a free and information-rich country.

Regards,
Yash Bhatia
