I would like to draw attention of all concerned ministries and authorities towards the atrocious ways in which VODAFONE INDIA is trying to re-coup all what it must have paid towards Spectrum auction from the Indian public.

I am a senior citizen and have been a VODAFONE INDIA MOBILE - POST PAID client since over a decade, this month i have received a bill which is 4 times of my usual billing amount on account of unwarranted charges levied by this firm on my mobile in the pretext of MOBILE DATA remaining on in my handset. I would like you to make note that i had never ever requested for any Internet service from VODAFONE INDIA before this and have been intimidated by their representatives on calls who have gone on to say no one can help you get the reversal of these charges despite you never requested for this service nor you were informed by Vodafone India of any such service being provided to your mobile number.

Thru this mail i am trying to draw your attention to the con job that these firms are retorting to and seeking your help to not let Indian citizen being robbed at the hand of these MNC firms who have vitiated the code of conduct rules in this country.

Dear Mr Marten,

With reference to my Vodafone Mobile # 9830223979 I would like to draw your attention to the unwarranted Mobile Data Usage charges levied to me in the current billing cycle which is completely illegitimate and falsely implicated. Just to briefly let you know about the problem at hand -

I am a senior citizen (70 Year old) and very old patron of Vodafone services who was recently gifted my first Android phone by my son. All the while I was using my wi-fi connection to operate internet on my phone without ever being communicated by Vodafone about any internet plan pre-activated on the handset. Neither did I ever request for a mobile data plan before this nor was I ever communicated by your firm about the same. I was astonished to receive a bill of over INR 3000 when my normal average bill used to INR 700 on an average each month. To my utter disgust I was told by your call centre folks that this pertains to the mobile data usage which remained on all the while and internet was being provided at an atrocious price for last entire month. Considering my age and inability to comprehend anything what he said I was taken aback and felt completely duped by the uncalled for charges. No heed has been paid to the complaints raised at your helpline number 98300-98300.

-          Being an old patron I have decided to take this up with you to understand why no prior communication is being made to a client about any service which he has not requested for ever.
-          Is it in line with your service commitment to old patrons to get fleeced by so called “client friendly offers”?
-          Legitimately am I the only one at fault to be penalized this way? I would take this up with TRAI too to see that is this the way clients should be treated by their Telecom Service Providers.

Look forward to your empathetic review of the situation and getting a waiver in this regard for undue mobile data charges.
