It is very disturbing to hear that TRAI is proposing a consultation paper that will sacrifice net neutrality for the benefit of telcos and other large companies. As a govt regulator TRAI should be focused completely on protecting the consumer’s interests and TRAI has done so on many occasions in the past. I hope that the same ethos of protecting individual consumer rights to access information from anywhere on the Internet irrespective of service provider will drive TRAI’s policies in the coming years too.

Net neutrality is critical to the whole information revolution that India has benefited so greatly from. Hope TRAI will enhance & strengthen this approach rather than weaken it.
