To whomsoever it may concern,

I AM AGAINST THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A REGULATORY FRAMEWORK FOR OTT. IT VIOLATES THE BASIC TENETS OF NET NEUTRALITY

Network neutrality is the idea that internet service providers (ISPs) should treat all internet traffic equally. It says your ISP shouldn’t be allowed to block or degrade access to certain websites or services, nor should it be allowed to set aside a "fast lane" that allows content favored by the ISP to load more quickly than the rest.

This is an extremely important understanding of the Internet as it stands today. Even a country like the United States has recently closed on Stricter Net neutrality rules to better defend the end-user. The corporate entities in India that are lobbying for regulation of "OTT" services are attempting to alter the rules while the general Indian populace is relatively uneducated to the way the Internet works.

Take the case of a user that Games online. Gaming is now an official eSport & viewing entertainment world over. Why would an international site like Twitch or Steam agree to pay ISPs to allow for bandwidth to users in India ? Why would Indian users pay extra considering the already large amount we are paying for our net lines?

Basically an ISP would then have the power to charge both ends of the supply & demand spectrum to make money. This is nothing more than a blatant attempt to bully users & content providers into paying more to an ISP for access to the web in a convenient manner.

An ISPs only role is to provide access & bandwidth as per a rate card that has been agreed upon by both parties. An ISP cannot discriminate between users by fast laning content access.

There are multiple entries on the topic of why allowing companies to set up frameworks for OTTs is damaging to the rights of users on the ISP.

Please educate yourselves & make the decision that benefits the end-users & not line the pockets of greedy ISP entities:
