Dear TRAI,

As a citizen of this country, it has been my privilege to use the internet for my daily activities. From playing games, reading articles to enjoying multimedia, the internet has been my only medium. But it is staying in touch with friends that gives me utmost joy in day to day life. And WhatsApp and Skype are the two major players which help me in keeping touch with my friends.

But since the last few days, I have been worried. It was nothing short of a breach if trust when I read that TRAI was planning to regulate OTT services at the behest of service providers. Not only will I have to pay for every message I send to my comrades, but also think twice about doing so. In short, this will feel like the 90s.

Services such as WhatsApp were created by thinkers who wanted people to connect globally. Introducing your plan will hamper such thought processes of potential developers who have a life changing service being developed right around the corner.

And it will make me lose interest in staying in touch with my comrades.

Hence, it is my humble request to you to not go forward with it and allow best neutrality to prevail.

Regards,
Aashwath Acharya
