With increased use of ott services data consumption has also increased. Hence the revenue generated by TSP has also increased.

OTT services such as whatsapp are wonderful alternatves to traditional SMS as TSP charge very high rate for each sms. Charging one to two rupee per sms shows how greedy TSPs are. A rate this high doesn't make sense as you can't finish your talks in just 10-20 messages. Also TRAI has put a limit on number of sms a person can send in a day. This is impractical. With OTTS such as whatsapp you can send  unlimited messages. By charging so high on SMS & putting a cap on number of SMS TSP & TRAI have taken away the the right to freedom of expression.

E- commerce OTTS are not a threat to  brick and mortar business setups as consumers don't buy everything from them. For example in case of garments/shoes etc a consumer would like to buy it from a physical store rather than online to ensure quality , texture , color  durability etc. A consumer can even bargain in a physical store.
E- commerce sell branded clothes/ shoes whereas  there are large number of consumers who like to buy non branded items from markets which they can get for a cheaper price.
Its just the electronic items which more people are buying from online stores.

Piracy is not just a OTT vs TSP issue. Even OTTS like netflix , amazon, itunes etc are affected by piracy.

OTTS cant be held responsible for exposure of children to social media, adult content . Even if they are responsible i don't understand how differential pricing will help in this regard. TSPs are not concerned a bit about this  issue.

Anti-OTTS community is saying that OTTS are risk privacy of user. How will charging separately for these services from end user address the safety concern ?

Solution:

The revenue genearated by OTTS through advertisements could be shared between OTT service providers & TSPs .

Voice Calls should remain in TSPs domain only.

We need to address privacy and security issues without burdening the end user with hefty differential pricing strategy.

I support net neutrality because its like a basic right to freedom of expression
.

An end user.
