Sir,
It is alarming to note that private telecom operators are proposing a discriminatory pricing mechanism for so called 'over the top' services provided to telecom users. I condemn such a move faster than I can care to mention.
1) Net Neutrality is important to ensure unbiased transfer of data to those seeking it. Over the top services are largely the reason why people even decide to get a smartphone and to charge extra for it because telecom companies lose a little money is wrong, and I may go so far as to saying, underhand.
2) A pricing mechanism like this also allows telecom companies to decide which OTT services to promote. This is in fact, against the spirit of market economics.
3) There are alternative pricing mechanisms that telecom companies can adopt in order to cover the losses OTT services bring to their revenue.
4) I trust you will not ensure such legislation and/or mechanism to be passed.
Yours sincerely,
A concerned telecom user.
