It is saddening to know what Telecom operators are upto these days. A year and a half ago, they were the ones who increased SMS pack charges and call charges and reduced data charges so that consumers would switch over to data packs. And its not like Whatsapp, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and other such applications weren't in the picture then. People were using them at that time as well. Since they were something new and different, the y appealed to more subscribers, hence Telecos raised the prices for data packs in a few months so that they could make profit even if it meant consumers getting angry and frustrated because of these tactics.

It should be noted that subscribers were lured towards using cellular data more than SMS and regular calls. Now that it has happened that consumers are more dependent on data services, they're at it again. Now according to them, all these come under OTT services. They know very well that consumers are used to these services and just so that they can earn more money, make more profit even if it means irritating customers, charging them for something they've already paid for.

This goes against the principle of Net Neutrality which treats all internet traffic as bits and bytes. Now whether we access Facebook, YouTube, Instagram or Whatsapp, we are using data and we are already paying for it so there's no logic in paying extra for the so called 'OTT' services.

I for one, am totally against it.
