Dear Madam/Sir,

Until now, we could use the internet data we paid for, to do anything on the internet. If telecoms get their way, they will dictate what, how and when to browse the internet.

This is really scary! Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRAI) is the only body which has the power to settle this issue once and for all. We don’t want the internet to be controlled by these big corporates. We want TRAI to put people’s interest first.

These companies say they have invested a lot of money in setting up internet infrastructure and they must get a share of the earning that Internet firms like Facebook, WhatsApp etc generate. But the truth is that all of these companies have a huge profit margin that customers like us pay for.

When the telecoms came in business, did they pay India Post for the loss of revenues as a result of them? When compact discs started selling, did the cassette companies claim loss of revenues?

If they are really under loss, why don't they simply raise the price of their services? This is simply a tactic to increase their hold over our thoughts and communication.

As an Indian, I both request and demand from TRAI to place interest of the public first and NOT huge corporations.
