Dear TRAI,

I am a final year student of engineering, and the internet has been the one reliable friend throughout my college education. Be it preparing a report or a presentation or looking up online for interview questions of the companies visiting my campus, the internet has been a constant companion.

Sites like Youtube have a massive collection of educational videos (many of these by NPTEL) which were extremely essential for understanding my course materials. My brother, who is preparing for his JEE exams this year also uses Youtube to access many valuable, but free videos.

Differential pricing of different websites, I believe, will hit the student community hardest. Not all of our campuses are Wifi enabled - we are still a lot away from that. Many of us rely on our smartphones and data cards for internet. And we, the students, do not have much money to spare.

When our Prime Minister aims for a Digital India, we countrymen cheer at the top of our lungs. Killing net neutrality is going to strike a blow to the very concept of going digital. Let's accept this: the internet is a must in today's world to progress and sometimes, even to proceed. Let's not leave it to the whims of corporates only interested in making money.
