Dear TRAI

I have been hearing a lot about the differential pricing sought by the telecom companies and finally took some time out to actually check out what the fuss was all about. Sir, this is absolute desecration of all that democracy stands for. I had placed a lot of belief in and have personally supported the current government in the face of all the criticism. In this case I can clearly see that this will have a huge effect on me financially and on so many more in my position. Please don’t disappoint us.

First of all, this kind of regulatory access to information has been declared illegal in the free world. Nobody, and I repeat Nobody is to be given the right to charge the people for information they want unless they hold Intellectual Property Rights to that piece of information. I won’t bore you with how only the telecoms will benefit from this as there is already too much going around about that.

Remember the bandwidth being controlled by the telecoms is your property and you reserve the right to scrap all regulatory rights from these companies at your whim. Note that, you have been appointed by us to benefit us, the common citizen. Any policy that will benefit an individual/or a group of individuals at the cost of our money will be considered anti-national. This change can in no way bring prosperity in the country and you will never be able to justify the action.

On the other hand I would suggest a few things you should check out

·         Voicemail: Please see since when the facility of voicemail has been available to mobile users in more developed countries, how much the service is charged for there and equate that to the PPP between the countries and decide if telecoms are charging a totally unjust fee for the service not.

·         Internet service: We all are really happy with the increase in bandwidth. But please compare it with the global standards. We are way below the global average.

You stand for development, don’t you? Get this sorted.

Best Regards,
